Access Requests
Access Requests give users a self-service way to request access to Snowflake data objects. A user submits a request for the objects they need, an approver reviews it, and approval automatically creates the corresponding Access Management Policy.
Request Lifecycle
Section titled “Request Lifecycle”An access request is open until it reaches one of three terminal states:
- Approved — an approver approves the request, and ALTR immediately creates the corresponding Access Management Policy.
- Denied — an approver denies the request. No policy is created.
- Canceled — the requesting user cancels their own request before it is approved or denied.
The policy exists as soon as a request is approved; the user gains access when ALTR next applies grants on its scheduled run.
Submit an Access Request
Section titled “Submit an Access Request”Users browse the available Snowflake objects — databases, schemas, tables, and views — and submit a request with a justification from a native app in your Snowflake account. They can also view the status of their existing requests in the same app. Contact ALTR to deploy the access request app for your Snowflake account.
Review Access Requests
Section titled “Review Access Requests”An approver reviews pending requests in ALTR or in the native app and approves or denies each request based on its justification.
