Settings and Preferences
Settings > Preferences is where you manage your ALTR password, two-factor authentication defaults, and your organization’s settings. The same screen also has an API tab, where you manage API keys. See API Keys. To recover your organization ID or username, or reset a forgotten password, see Recover Your Organization ID, Username, or Password.
Personal Preferences
Section titled “Personal Preferences”Change Your Password
Section titled “Change Your Password”Change your password from Settings > Preferences > User while signed into ALTR.
To change your password:
- Select Settings > Preferences > User in the navigation menu.
- Enter your current ALTR password.
- Enter your new password. It must meet the password requirements below.
- Confirm your new password.
- Click Submit.
An ALTR password must be 8 to 64 characters and include at least one capital letter, one number, and one special character. The password must also be different from your old password.
Set Your Own 2FA Method
Section titled “Set Your Own 2FA Method”You choose a 2FA method when first creating your account, and can change it later. When you change methods, ALTR prompts you to confirm receipt of a code before the change takes effect.
To change your 2FA method:
- Select Settings > Preferences in the navigation menu.
- Click the User tab.
- Under Update Two-Factor Authentication Settings, select a method.
- Click Save.
Organization Preferences
Section titled “Organization Preferences”Your organization’s settings are on the Organization tab under Settings > Preferences.
- ALTR Organization ID — the unique identifier for your organization, also used in the subdomain for the ALTR UI.
- Organization Name — a display name for the organization, which administrators can change.
- Registered Domains — limits which email domains can be used when inviting ALTR administrators. To change the list, contact ALTR Support.
- Allowed Two-Factor Authentication Methods — sets which 2FA methods are available to your organization’s administrators; see Two-Factor Authentication and Select Allowed 2FA Methods for Your Organization below.
- Audit Log Export — ALTR can export audit log data to an Amazon S3 bucket for ingestion into logging tools. See Amazon S3 Integration to set it up.
Single sign-on (SSO) and System for Cross-domain Identity Management (SCIM) configuration are also organization-level settings, managed from the SSO/SCIM tab under Settings > Preferences by Super Administrators. See SSO and SCIM for what each does and how they affect administrator sign-in and account management.
Select Allowed 2FA Methods for Your Organization
Section titled “Select Allowed 2FA Methods for Your Organization”The 2FA methods available to users are set at the organization level. See Two-Factor Authentication for what each method is.
To set the allowed 2FA methods for your organization:
- Select Settings > Preferences in the navigation menu.
- Click the Organization tab.
- Under Allowed Two-Factor Authentication Settings, select the methods to make available.
- Click Save.
Snowflake Marketplace Details
Section titled “Snowflake Marketplace Details”If your organization was created through Snowflake Marketplace, the Organization tab holds that configuration: the host name of your Snowflake instance and the name of the Snowflake service user tied to the ALTR organization.
Notification Integrations
Section titled “Notification Integrations”ALTR can deliver database activity alerts to Slack, Microsoft Teams, PagerDuty, Splunk, ServiceNow, or a custom webhook. Configure these from Settings > Integrations. See Notification Integrations for delivery-channel setup and DAM Alerting for alert-rule configuration.
