Applications added to ALTR correspond to a single instance of an application driver or API. Queries and result sets from and to the application can then be subject to observation, governance, and protection policies. Applications only need to be added when using our database driver based integration and is not required for cloud integrations like Snowflake, Redshift, etc.
When adding a database driver application, we only need to know the IP address of that driver. Optionally, you have the ability to create a custom policy extension for database drivers which provides the option to apply external analysis to queries handled by the ALTR driver. A query inspected by external analysis will need to indicate to our Driver whether to block or allow that query.
ALTR also give you the ability to integrate API Applications through providing the IP Address of that application.
